Change the local timezone

By default the Raspberry Pi timezone is set to UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). You may wish to change this to ensure the system is aware of your local time. This is easy to do with raspi-config, a tool included with Raspbian:

sudo raspi-config

Select option 4 then option I2 and go through and select the correct region. No need to reboot the Pi as the changes take effect immediately.
